The Committee on National Security and Defence upholds ratification of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Italian Republic on transportation of military cargo and personnel through the territory of Ukraine in connection with participation of the Armed Forces of the Italian Republic in the International Security Assistance Force in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

It was noted that the Agreement was signed on February 21, 2013 in Kyiv. The International act determines framework conditions, procedure and organization of transit of military cargo and personnel through the territory and/or air space of Ukraine in order to provide support to the International Security Assistance Force in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Committee members noted that the Agreement is subject to ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine since the approach determined in the Agreement in regard to execution and rail transiting of military cargo and personnel through the state border of Ukraine, differs from the one stipulated by the Ukrainian legislation.

The people’s deputies agreed that in case the Verkhovna Rada adopts the respective law, the Ukrainian Party will perform inter-state procedures necessary for enactment of this Agreement.
